Geno's Story: Hound-a-thon 2009
GinoHi, I’m Geno. I am a very lucky dog, as I am in my foster home now, waiting for my forever home. I am a Colorado dog, born and bred, but when the tracks closed in Colorado, I went to Florida to race, cause I was a really good racer! But then, one day, as I came around the bend, running as fast as I could, I fell and broke my hock! Mr. DiCroce made sure that I made it home to Colorado, so I could find my forever home, and I caught a ride back with the Oklahoma dogs. My leg was casted and it healed as good as it could, but my racing days are over. That’s ok, cause I like my pet days even better!

I have a limp and I will always walk a little funny, but my leg doesn’t hurt anymore. My foster mom, Jody, gives me massages and my muscles are building back up now and I can walk on my leg again. But then, I got happy tail. That’s cause I am very, very happy, and I wag all the time, and I got my tail bandaged. That was healing good, when I got a big lump on my tail above my happy tail. I went to the vet and had x-rays (very, very expensive) and then they decided that I needed to have half my tail amputated (also very expensive).

My foster mom was really sad, because they thought I might have something called osteosarcoma in my tail. It turns out that isn’t my problem, but it still might be something else serious and they are waiting to hear all my test results, but I feel fine now!

I am so glad that CGA is taking such good care of me. I know that all the donations that all the people make are the reason that I could get my tail fixed and have a forever home.

Thank you everybody!
