| Coffee: Kicking off Hound-a-thon 2009 |
AaahhhHRrOOooO! I am Coffee SweetPea Doodlebug Snooter Stinkybutt Henderson and your official emcee for the great 2009 CGA Hound-A-Thon! *drum roll* It’s because of generous donations from people like you that we hounds get a chance at a happy retirement. Some hounds got it easy – they are young, healthy and ready for a forever home. CGA only has to provide basic spay/neuter surgery, food and a foster home for those lucky hounds. But sometimes we get hounds with problems. Hounds like me. Hounds who take a lot more time and a lot of money to get us to our forever home. Although I am a healthy, happy 71 pound girl now, when CGA got me I was in bad, bad shape. I was only 44 pounds. I was so hungry and scared and sad. When the veterinarian went in to spay me, my insides were all swollen and irritated. To survive, I had eaten sand, dirt and rocks and it made me really sick. I almost didn’t make it through the surgery. I almost died thinking that the world was a sad, scary place. I almost died only knowing hunger and fear. I almost died never knowing a soft bed or a gentle touch. I almost died not knowing love. People like you saved my life. Generous people like you donated time and money so I could be given a chance to live. It took over three months, $5000 in surgeries, specialists, medicines and monitoring to get me back on my paws. Three months to start to heal my broken body, spirit and soul. If people like you hadn’t donated generously, my story might have ended very differently. Right now, we have other hounds that need your help. Broken legs that need to be fixed. Arthritis that needs to be managed with pain medicine. Bad teeth that need to be removed. We never want to have to say "no" to a hound in need because we don’t have the money to fix a fixable problem. Please help today. It doesn’t have to be much to make a difference. CGA is a 501c3 organization, and staffed completely by volunteers. All of your donation goes to the hounds. Please consider setting up a monthly donation so other hounds can have a chance at a happy healthy life. So when we get that dreaded phone call from a veterinarian saying that a hound needs more extensive help, we can say "yes." Keep an eye on this space as we continue to bring you more hound stories that your generous donations have helped. From all the hounds CGA has helped and will help in the future – we thank you! |
